Fire-Building during Conserve School Family Weekend

Last week, on the Friday of Family Weekend, family members were invited to go to class along with Conserve School students. One of the afternoon classes was Field Instruction, during which students practiced their fire-building skills in preparation for their solo overnights. Each student has the option of spending one night camping on their own in one of the more remote corners of Conserve School’s 1200-acre campus. These overnights are scheduled to happen soon, while we’re still having balmy fall weather, so each student built their own fire on Friday to brush up on their camping skills. As you can see in the photographs, family members were able to try out their skills, too.
