Shake a Leg!

This past summer a local resident of Land O’ Lakes was the recipient of a new running prosthetic leg from the Amputee Blade Runners (ABR) group. ABR is a nonprofit organization that helps amputees by providing them with prosthetics designed for running.  In hopes of creating awareness and raising funds for this wonderful organization, the first annual Shake a Leg for Amputee Blade Runners 5 mile walk/run/bike race was held this past Sunday. The event was less about racing than about creating an opportunity to socialize and raise money for a good cause.

Conserve students and staff had the opportunity to participate in the 5 mile run/walk. After the race, they enjoyed corn on the cob, soup, sandwiches and sweets while listening to music and mingling with other participants. It was a great chance for students to engage in a powerful community event and have some fun!
