This past weekend I had the opportunity to exhibit on behalf of Conserve School at Green Festival Chicago. The festival was held appropriately enough in Festival Hall A on Navy Pier. The Green Festival brings together individuals and organizations that are interested in what some call the triple bottom line: sustainable economy, ecological balance and social justice. The exhibitors, displays and speakers addressed all those areas. This was my third year attending and exhibiting at the festival and I appreciated the opportunities to reconnect with exhibitors from previous years and to make new connection such as with Kristin Kim from Sansori who had the booth across the aisle. Sansori provides educational programs centered on compassion, community & commerce.
I was assisted in the booth by alumnus Paige Nygaard and Conserve School Graduate Fellow Pete Gizyn. They did a great job and together we distributed over 275 Conserve School brochures along with many poster, pens and key chains. By Sunday evening my throat was a bit sore from telling so many people about Conserve School’s amazing semester school program for high school students and the fact it is so affordable. Over the past few years a number of students have first learned about Conserve School through the Green Festival. I am eager to see new applications and inquiries that mention this year’s event.
