February 22nd through February 24th brought educators, administrators, and green schools enthusiasts from across the country to West Palm Beach, Florida for the third annual Green Schools National Conference. The goal of the conference was to promote healthy and sustainable schools across the country.
Several Conserve School staff members had the opportunity to travel to the Green Schools National Conference for a variety of reasons. Stefan Anderson, the Head of School, represented Conserve School as a sponsor for the conference and an exhibitor for the school. Jennifer Anderson, Stefan’s wife, and Graduate Fellow Julia Dodd also represented Conserve School as exhibitors. Assistant Head of School Mary Anna Thornton and Graduate Fellow Heather Lumpkin presented at the conference about integrating citizen-based science projects into schools’ curriculum. The conference was a great success, as information about the outstanding Conserve School opportunity and citizen-based science projects were shared with many new faces. In addition to the conference, staff members were able to enjoy the much warmer weather, beautiful West Palm Beach beaches, and a truly amazing sidewalk art festival.
