Conserve School at Isthmus Green Day

I had the privilege of sharing the Conserve School story in Madison last weekend at “Isthmus Green Day“. Isthmus Green Day is a one-day sustainability expo that is organized by “Isthmus – The Daily Page” in Madison. The event was held at Monana Terrace in Madison and ran from 9 am to 5 pm. As this was a Saturday event I was able to bring along a group of students to help out. We drove down after school on Friday and I dropped the students off at Conserve School families in the Madison area and they rejoined me at Monona Terrace on Saturday.

During the day the students and I had the chance to introduce attendees to Conserve School and the options for young adults to spend a semester of their sophomore or junior year of high school engaged in Conserve’s exciting environmental curriculum. We also shared information about graduate fellowship opportunities at Conserve School through the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point and about Conserve’s Advanced Placement Summer Institute for high school teachers of AP classes.

It was great to have so many students helping with the Conserve School exhibit. It allowed all of us to have the opportunity to take advantage of the many opportunities that Isthmus Green Day had to offer. I enjoyed walking around and meeting other exhibitors and Isthmus Green Day sponsors. I was particularly pleased to see Sandy from Working Bikes sharing their amazing program. I enjoyed samples from a number of vendors including Rishi Tea and Honest Tea (I like tea). I also had the opportunity to sit in on some great presentations including one by Madeleine Para promoting and Citizens Climate Lobby. Ms. Para did a great job encouraging people to become activists and participants in the promotion of change.

I appreciated the opportunity to reconnect with people from the Madison area. A number of alums and friends of Conserve School stopped by the Conserve School booth, including alums of the graduate fellowship program. We also had the chance to meet with a number of students who are in the process of applying for next year.

Conserve School’s next exhibiting stop will be at the Green Festival Chicago at Navy Pier on May 5th and 6th. In June you will find Conserve School exhibiting at the Midwest Renewable Energy Association Fair in Custer, Wisconsin from June 15th through the 17th.

  1. There was a stream of people at your booth, otherwise I would have said Hi when I walked through. Thank you for bringing Emma, Casey and Megan – they are pretty awesome!

    • Not a problem, I should be thanking you for hosting the young ladies and bringing them over in the morning. They did an awesome job promoting Conserve.
