Early Saturday morning Brooke, Logan, Katin, Rowan and Nicole, along with graduate fellows Eve Smallwood and Julia Dodd, headed to Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park in the Upper Peninsula for an overnight trip – for some of our students spending Exploration Week in the Porkies just wasn’t enough! They spent the morning hiking along the escarpment, enjoying the view, and then hiked down to Lake of the Clouds to eat lunch. They got to check out an old mine in the park, and even saw some bats inside! That night they settled into Gitchee Gumee cabin, only a few minutes from the beach and Lake Superior. A rousing game of Whovilleopoly (a Grinchy version of Monopoly) ensued after a delicious dinner of foil packets cooked in the fire. Sunday morning the group visited the Presque Isle Falls on their way out. What a great weekend getaway!
Thanks to Julia for sharing her photos.
