On Monday and Tuesday afternoons, our students finally got to go on the canoe trip that had been postponed last week due to weather. History and English classes combined to spend an afternoon paddling and portaging through a five-lake loop in the Sylvania Wilderness. The expedition was part of a unit on Lewis and Clark – the Corps of Discovery did much of their traveling by canoe, and this gave our students a taste of what it might have been like to join them. They were treated to two beautiful, sunny afternoons, and persevered despite the deep mud they discovered at some of the portages!
Thank you to Jeff Rennicke and Michael Salat for their photos.
