Green Festival – Chicago

This past weekend Conserve School exhibited at Green Festival – Chicago. This event provides a forum for showcasing green products, businesses and opportunities. The Green Festivals website describes the event as “a walk through a sustainable community. It begins with finding solutions to help make our lives healthier-socially, economically and environmentally. Individuals, business and community leaders come together to discuss critical issues that impact us at home and abroad. Organizations and businesses showcase programs and products that restore the planet and all that inhabit it. Neighbor-to-neighbor connections are formed and skills are shared to empower people to create positive change in the world.”

Conserve School’s exhibit was well received. In fact, we had underestimated the number of brochures we needed and ran out a few hours before the end of the festival. At the festival we were able to reconnect with a number of alumni and friends of Conserve School, many of whom are pictured with this post. There were a number of interesting and thought provoking exhibits. One of my favorites was the “New Life for Old Bags” exhibit. This organization is up-cycling plastic bags into sleeping mats for the homeless. You can get a good idea of how this works at this blog post. I also enjoyed lunch courtesy of “Soul Vegetarian East” and I hope to get a few of their recipes for Conserve School.
