Earth Art Class Melds Art and Nature

The Earth Art class with their completed nature weaving.

To pass the time for you while we’re waiting for students to return from Exploration Week, I thought I’d post photos of some of the beautiful work the Earth Art students have been creating in the spirit of Andy Goldsworthy. Goldsworthy is a master at creating ephemeral art that uses natural elements, that is situated in the natural landscape, and that calls attention to the intrinsic beauty of the natural world.

Students worked in a group on a nature weaving and then created sculptures and designs in pairs or on their own, here and there on the Conserve campus. One of the delightful elements of this project is that you never know when you’ll come across one of these sculptures when you’re taking a walk on campus. You can read more about the nature weaving and other art projects on the website of Nancy Schwartz, Conserve School’s art teacher.

Enjoy the photos below.
