Conserve’s Newest Eagle Scout

Conserve School senior Matt Freitag achieved Eagle Scout status this spring. For his Eagle Award service project Matt improved the walking and single track biking trail around Little Donahue Lake. He did so by adding educational signs and building Leopold benches to form an outdoor classroom.

Because this trail is located conveniently behind the Lowenstine Academic Building it is a favorite of many students and staff for short strolls during the day. The trail has been built and is being maintained by the trail building crew led by history teacher Michael Salat.

Trail signs provide information on how the land came to be as we see it today.

  1. Good job Matt! I love going on trails that tell you something about what you are looking at. I can’t wait to hear about your adventures on the trails at Tech.
