The Weather In History class took a field trip to Nicolet Area Technical College in Rhinelander to tap into the expertise of a local weather expert. Paul Ehlers teaches Geography and Geology at Nicolet Technical College and is well known in the area for his meteorology segments on the local National Public Radio station. Paul graciously offered to spend a couple of hours with our students to discuss the impacts of the Dust Bowl era and how many factors contributed to this ecological disaster. Paul also showed us how geographers use GIS (Graphic Information Systems) to help analyze weather data and draw conclusions from the data.

It was really a fine afternoon and I would like to thank Mr. Ehlers for his time and work with my students.
