Community Caucus

Wednesday evening, in lieu of our weekly house meetings, students and staff were invited to participate in a “community caucus”.  About 20 students and 8 staff gathered to discuss a student-generated initiative to increase the number of hours that the student apartments are open each week.  Over the course of 40 minutes we practiced the fine art of sharing our opinions and perspectives, and listening in an attempt to understand each other.  When all was said and done, after carefully considering all the factors involved, Cathy and Phil decided today to make a change to the open hours of the apartments.  By taking time to dialogue, we nurtured our community and exercised skills that will serve us well throughout our lifetimes.
