Many people stopped by the Conserve School exhibit to learn more about Conserve School’s semester school program for high school students, graduate fellowship partnership with the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point and about other programs Conserve School supports. Very few left the booth empty-handed as the school was giving out posters from the Timber Wolf Alliance and Loon Watch, two programs that Conserve School also sponsors.
Attending the Midwest Renewable Energy Fair gives Conserve School staff and alums the chance to reconnect at an event that is well aligned with Conserve School’s mission. This year we had alums from all four Conserve School semesters and alums of the Graduate Fellowship Program. In addition to reconnecting, many of the alums gave back to the school by volunteering their time in the Conserve School booth. They were great ambassadors for the Conserve Semester School program. I was excited to learn that one of our alums, Kira Minehart, had won a scholarship from the MREA in recognition of her dedication to environmental sustainability.
The Energy Fair also gives Conserve School staff a chance to network with others who are working on behalf of environmental stewardship. I was pleased to have a chance to talk to many other exhibitors, especially those from Working Bikes, Citizens Climate Lobby, the Wisconsin Association for Environmental Education, the Ice Age Trail Alliance and of course our friends at the Midwest Renewable Energy Association.
If you are interested in environmental stewardship, sustainable living and/or renewable energy I strongly recommend that you consider attending the Energy Fair next year, and if you do, please stop by the Conserve School booth and say hello.
